As with most years, a couple of mobile networks have already put live offers that they have badged with Black Friday. Currently, these are iD Mobile and Tesco Mobile. Take a look here.

For all the rest, we’re still waiting. In the meantime, we’ve put together our predictions per mobile network, as to what SIM only offers they will have over the Black Friday period.

We’ve been tracking Black Fridays on SIM only for the best part of ten years now. So we’ve got a good idea of what each mobile network will do, as well as how to spot the genuine deals from just black theming!

As more and more offers get live, we’ll update this guide with the latest deals daily. So do make sure to check back. It’s also worth just using our comparison tool here to compare all plans.

iD Mobile: half price months and a £2000 Currys gift card!

at idmobile.co.uk
(opens in new window)

No matter what pay monthly SIM only deal you take on iD Mobile between now and the 2nd December, you can enter yourself into their Black Friday Event competition to win a £2000 Currys gift card.

But their headline Black Friday offers on SIM only are 3 months half price on selected 12-month contracts. Or 6 months half price on selected 24-month ones. We think this is the best value of them all:

That said, in general the best value on iD is still to be had by taking one of our exclusive 1-month plans. These come with less commitment and you’ve got a full range of data amounts to pick from:

Tesco Mobile: two Clubcard Price offers so far

Tesco are another network, who normally publish their Black Friday offers early. This year they’ve done in in October. They’ve got a couple of cut-price offers for Clubcard holders:

You never really find Tesco competing massively on SIM only, so these are both beatable. From monitoring them over previous years though, we do expect to see at least one more strong offer.

Typically, Tesco will launch their best priced deal of the year either on the day of Black Friday or just before. But you’ll need to be quick, as they tend to remove it immediately after Cyber Monday!

Predictions per mobile network

Three will have the strongest SIM deals of the main networks

Three 25GB for £7 offer

Last year’s offer is still live!Get this deal now

at three.co.uk
(opens in new window)

Having tracked Black Fridays over the past ten years, we can confidently say Three will have the best SIM deals of any major network. They’ve often made headlines in newspapers and comparison websites.

We predict they will have two types of offer. On their main website and in stores, we’ll likely see some kind of 6 months half price offer, on 24-month contracts. Perhaps an eye-opening unlimited data deal.

But it’s the exclusive deals they give to comparison websites you really want to look for. These will typically undercut, what’s on the main part of Three.co.uk – by a significant margin. See current exclusives here:

We’d be amazed if we didn’t see the very popular 80GB for £8 deal come back Timings-wise, we’d expect things live a couple of weeks before the actual date. But maybe one last minute hero offer too.

EE will just have a couple of high value SIMs on offer

Old EE Black Friday Bonanza branding

Mainly device dealsSee EE Black Friday page

at EE.co.uk
(opens in new window)

Two years back, EE decided to pull the plug on comparison websites. At a company level, it seems the strategy was to position the brand as a premium brand, that’s worth paying top dollar for.

So we don’t expect EE to be indulging in the same kind of exclusive SIM only deals you’ll see on Three and O2 over Black Friday. It’s just not how they operate nowadays. And never really did.

Offers-wise, we’d expect them to stick to plans priced around £20. They don’t tend to get down and dirty competition on smaller, cheaper plans. Something like 200GB for £20. Or 6 months half price.

Either way, you have to watch EE very carefully. Two years ago, the SIM offers they put live for Black Friday were actually worse value than what they had at the beginning of November.

O2 will give us some great exclusive SIM only offers

O2 30GB for £12.99 SIM only offer

Best time of year to order O2See O2 Black Friday page

at O2.co.uk
(opens in new window)

At all previous Black Fridays, O2 have only stuck to having a couple of main SIM offers on their website and in-store. These were typically a discount on a massive data plan like 100GB or 200GB, or unlimited data.

That’s all very well if you’re in the market for those and have around £20 a month to spend. They never reduced their smaller, cheaper tariffs. O2 have stuck to big, high value deals.

But recently, O2 have been sharing some very competitive exclusive SIM deals with us, to pass onto our readers (see under the dropdown below). We could see these temporarily improved.

New O2 customers can benefit from any of these hidden deals:

O2 tend to play it short and sweet. They have previously put some mediocre Black Friday badged SIMs live at the beginning of November. But we’d wait until the actual date for their best deals, which will last only a couple of days.

Vodafone’s best SIMs will be via Mobiles.co.uk and Carphone

A previous Black Friday offer on Vodafone

Previous deals focussed on big dataSee this year’s page

at vodafone.co.uk
(opens in new window)

There are two ways you can join Vodafone. One is direct via their website. The other is via resellers like Carphone Warehouse and Mobiles.co.uk. They’re not comparison websites, you buy Vodafone from them.

Over Black Friday, Vodafone themselves tend to only stick to a couple of very short offers: starting on the day itself and lasting to Cyber Monday. Think unlimited data for £20. Or 200GB for £18.

Where the real value lies is by signing up to Vodafone via Carphone or Mobiles.co.uk. Not only do they have better value plans in the first place, you’ll also get automatic cashback offers too.

The amounts tend to ramp up over Black Friday, so will definitely be worth checking in on. You get signed up to the full Vodafone experience at a fraction of the cost. It’s a good system.

1pMobile don’t tend to shift much over Black Friday

1pMobile Black Friday offer of 50GB for £10

Last year’s offer is still liveGet this deal

at 1pmobile.com
(opens in new window)

We don’t see 1pMobile change their offers that often. But last year, they did release a special 50GB for £10 SIM specifically for Black Friday. This deal has since come back and is still available.

At the time, that was an improvement on the rest of the range. So we could see the same principle this year. Currently, we think 1pMobile are the best value way to get on the nearest thing to EE direct.

Other networks on EE can be cheaper but lack some of the full network features you get on 1p. So even if they do come in a little more expensive than the spusu and Lyca’s of the world, it could be worth investing in quality.

Either way, we don’t expect to see anything from 1p until right near the actual Black Friday date of 28th November. They simply don’t have the budget to throw huge discounts around for long.

giffgaff usually only focus on phone deals

giffgaff branded Black Friday phone deal banner

Black Friday deals mainly on phonesSee their page

at giffgaff.com
(opens in new window)

As we say every year, giffgaff aren’t really ones for rapidly changing their offers. Their SIM only range changes maximum twice a year. They only ever really go hard on Black Friday for phone contracts.

They have surprised us once or twice before but we suspect their sole SIM only offer over Black Friday will be their current unlimited data for £15 deal (see dropdown below):

So giffgaff are definitely one of the networks we only expect to see Black Friday branding for offers on, rather than genuine short term discounts or deals.

Useful link: Read our review of giffgaff

Lyca Mobile will have one or two standout SIM offers

Lyca Mobile offer from last year on SIM only

Expect eye catching offers like thisSee their page

at lycamobile.co.uk
(opens in new window)

We’re expecting something pretty competitive from Lyca Mobile over Black Friday. We’re likely to see them launch their offers around a week or so before the 28th and last a tiny bit longer too.

Their headline offers throughout the year have been things like 120GB for £10 on a 12-month deal. That’s put them well ahead of other EE-based networks. So we could see something beating that.

They’re also fond of 6 months half price offers on 24-month contracts. Our main problem is they’ve tended to make the full price part of your contract overly expensive (for them).

So a time-limited discount against a regularly priced deal could be a strong seller for Lyca Mobile. Either way, they will definitely be ones to watch this November.

SMARTY will have strong offers across SIM only

SMARTY Black Friday SIM from last year

Previous year’s offerSee Black Friday blog

at smarty.co.uk
(opens in new window)

We’ve noticed a bit of a shift with SMARTY in the last few months. They’ve been focussed on offers across their entire range of SIM only plans, which only last a couple of weeks.

At previous Black Fridays, they’ve tended to have one or two headline-grabbing hero offers. Like 80GB for £8 or similar. We could see this. Or we could see a whole range of exclusives, like under the dropdown:

Timings-wise, SMARTY are another network that tend to put one set of Black Friday themed offers live quite early in November. But then, they’ll usually bring out one extra, large data offer over the actual weekend.

Sky Mobile could do something extra this year

Two SIM cards on offer in Sky Mobile Black Friday sale

Last year’s deals were decent enoughCheck current offers

at sky.com
(opens in new window)

For many years, Sky Mobile haven’t been that interested in competing for Black Friday deal hunters on SIM only. They’ve tended to focus just on their phone contracts over the period.

But recently, we’ve noticed a lot more activity from Sky in terms of SIM only offers. For the past few months, they have been trialling a range of exclusive SIM only plans for comparison sites like the ones below:

So our prediction is that we will see an extension of these for Black Friday. Sky don’t like to give away ridiculous value on their SIM only plans at the best of times, so don’t expect anything market leading.

But if they are your network of choice, the back end of November is certainly the time to think about making the switch, because it will be the best value of the year.

spusu are definitely ones to watch over Black Friday

spusu 20GB for £6.90 deal

Great value all year roundGet this deal

at spusu.co.uk
(opens in new window)

If you’re in the market for a small to middle range amount of data, spusu are pretty much always the cheapest choice on the EE network. And we expect that to be the case over Black Friday too.

Their prices are already pretty rock bottom, so we’re not expecting any huge movement downwards. Perhaps more data for the same money – something in the range of 30GB for £6.90.

spusu feed comparison websites like us with a range of exclusive offers that beat what’s advertised on their website. So it will be worth checking back here, even if their on-site offers are good.

They don’t tend to switch offers on and off very quickly, so we could see a whole month of Black Friday themed SIMs over the month of November from spusu, timed to end for December.

Talkmobile will have the best value on Vodafone

Talkmobile Black Friday offer from last year

Better offers than last year’sSee our hidden deals

at simsherpa.com
(opens in new window)

In some ways, Talkmobile have a problem over Black Friday. Their deals are almost always in and around the best value on the market. So they don’t have a huge amount to play with for extra discounts.

At previous Black Fridays, Talkmobile have tended to have one or two hero offers on their main website, particularly on larger data amounts.

But then they’ve kept going with a range of exclusive SIM plans for comparison websites, which undercut their main deals. In previous years, these weren’t improvements but were already market leading.

Either way, Talkmobile will definitely be a top destination for cheap plans for any data requirement over the period. They always are. Just don’t be disheartened their offers are nothing new.

VOXI will offer something big, only over the weekend

VOXI Black Friday offers banner

Expect slightly more value than last year’sSee current offers

at VOXI.co.uk
(opens in new window)

If previous years are anything to go by, we expect VOXI to have a range of decent-enough exclusive deals available throughout November for comparison websites like us (see current deals below).

But then for Black Friday itself and over the weekend into Cyber Monday, VOXI will usually release one big headline offer that’s available on the main part of their website.

This will typically be a big data deal, probably something like 100GB for £10. That would be genuine record value from VOXI all year, so it’s worth pouncing on. But you won’t have long.

For all the talk on the internet of VOXI being a low-cost network, it’s only really relative to Vodafone that they’re cheaper. Vs other comparison website led providers, they’re nowhere near on price alone.

Definitely. If the provider you want to join has some genuine Black Friday offers going, it’s normally the best time to join them.

Are these Black Friday SIM only deals genuine?

That depends on the network. Some offer the same deals that they’ve already offered throughout the year. Some rebrand already existing deals as “Black Friday” deals. We go over which ones are genuine below.

When will SIM only offers go live for Black Friday?

This is different per network. You sometimes see networks offering Black Friday SIM deals up to 3 weeks before the actual date, while some only bring them out on the date.m

It depends on the network and plan. Most providers will pick two or three plans to discount or have at promotional prices. But don’t expect every single deal to get cheaper.

How long will these Black Friday deals last?

This depends on each network. Some keep their Black Friday deals up for longer than others. They’re usually kept up for about two weeks, while some networks keep their deals up for just a couple of days.
