Best SIM only offers ahead of Black Friday

100GB for £9.95

For out-and-out Black Friday cheapness, this Sky Mobile SIM’s hitting the right notes (ends 4th December). On the O2 network, it’d be a great SIM for anyone who’d normally pay as you go and just wants unlimited calls:

In the mid-range of data, this spusu deal on the EE network offers historic value. It’s an exclusive too, you won’t find it advertised on the main part of their website:

While massive data users will love this exclusive Talkmobile deal on the full speed Vodafone 5G network:

(opens in new window)

If you want to join one of the UK’s main networks (EE, O2, Three, Vodafone), it’s Three who are offering the best value ahead of Black Friday.

This exclusive deal which includes EU roaming is providing very popular and comes with almost four times the data the average user in the UK would get through:

For Vodafone, we’d be looking to join via Carphone Warehouse. They’ve got a range of exclusive low prices on Red plans (not the speed capped Basics tariffs), which pay you automatic cashback as a nice bonus:

Meanwhile O2 have sent us a range of exclusives to share with our readers. This is proving the most popular:

EE don’t work with comparison websites anymore. See their website for details of their deals.

1pMobile: don’t expect more than some black branding!

1pMobile Black Friday offer of 50GB for £10

Last year’s offer is still liveGet this deal

at 1pmobile.com
(opens in new window)

There’s no sign of Black Friday yet on 1pMobile. And we’re not expecting anything particularly new from them. They’ve only just changed their plans and they don’t change very ofte.

We actually think the limit of what you’ll see is some Black Friday branding added to their existing offers. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. We think this is superb value on EE’s full speed network:

If 1pMobile do do anything for Black Friday, we think it will be very last minute and only for a short period. They don’t have the budget to throw deep discounts at people for a long time.

Three: nothing yet, but great exclusive offers now

25GB for £7 banner

Available this year and very popularGet hidden offer

at three.co.uk
(opens in new window)

There aren’t any on-site Black Friday deals on Three yet. When they do come, we would expect something like 6 months half price on 24-month contracts, or 3 months half price on 12-month deals.

Past experience tells us that Three will have a range of exclusives for comparison websites that beat their own headline Black Friday deals anyway. Like this 25GB plan that is incredibly popular at the moment:

We’ve also got this exclusive for just £1 more that gives you more data and includes EU roaming too:

We’ve also go loads more exclusives under the dropdown here:

EE’s Black Friday deals focus on phones

Black Friday deals

Deals on devices onlySee EE alternatives

at simsherpa.com
(opens in new window)

There is now a range of Black Friday offers live on EE’s website. But so far they are only focused on phone contracts and other devices.

In the meantime, it’s worth looking at smaller providers that use EE’s network. You get a way better deal and still get to access leading coverage and superfast 5G and 4G:

We’d expect EE to launch a couple of large data deals (possibly unlimited data) in the run-up to Black Friday itself, rather than run a full months of deals.

giffgaff: an excellent unlimited data deal for £15

Unlimited data for £15 on a black background

Genuinely their best deal everGet your SIM here

at giffgaff.com
(opens in new window)

We said it in our prediction: giffgaff don’t really dabble in SIM only offers for Black Friday. They just focus on their phone contracts. That said, they have got one key standout offer live until 4th December.

This deal gives you genuinely unlimited data (it’s not like their old ‘Always On’ plan) and was priced at £25 for many years. So the £10 discount adding up to £180 is real:

at idmobile.co.uk
(opens in new window)

No matter what pay monthly SIM only deal you take on iD Mobile between now and the 2nd December, you can enter yourself into their Black Friday Event competition to win a £2000 Currys gift card.

But their headline Black Friday offers on SIM only are 3 months half price on selected 12-month contracts. Or 6 months half price on selected 24-month ones. We think this is the best value of them all:

That said, in general the best value on iD is still to be had by taking one of our exclusive 1-month plans. These come with less commitment and you’ve got a full range of data amounts to pick from:

Useful link: See iD’s half price SIM only contracts

Lyca Mobile: expect Black Friday deals any day now

Lyca Mobile offer from last year on SIM only

Half price for two monthsSee the deal

at lycamobile.co.uk
(opens in new window)

We’re expecting something pretty competitive from Lyca Mobile over Black Friday. We’re likely to see them launch their offers around a week or so before the 28th and last a tiny bit longer too.

Their headline offers throughout the year have been things like 120GB for £10 on a 12-month deal. That’s put them well ahead of other EE-based networks. So we could see something beating that.

They’re also fond of 6 months half price offers on 24-month contracts. Our main problem is they’ve tended to make the full price part of your contract overly expensive (for them).

So a time-limited discount against a regularly priced deal could be a strong seller for Lyca Mobile. Either way, they will definitely be ones to watch this November.

O2: exclusive Black Friday SIMs available now

O2 50GB for £8.50 SIM only banner

Best time of year to order O2See O2 Black Friday page

at O2.co.uk
(opens in new window)

On the main part of O2’s website, their hero Black Friday offer is a very tidy unlimited data for £20 deal, which has genuinely been in the mid-£20 range for the last years. This ends 10th December:

But we’ve been given a set of exclusive O2 SIMs to share with our customers for Black Friday. These are full speed, regular 12-month contracts, including EU roaming. You’ll need to be a new O2 customer to join.

The most popular will be this deal, with over 4x the amount of data the average person in the UK would ever need to use, for just £8.50 a month (new customers only):

There are plenty more to choose from under this dropdown too:

We are also expecting a second phase of O2 deals to come along, closer to Black Friday. These don’t always get better in our experience. It could be worth waiting, it could be a gamble too far!

Sky Mobile’s exclusives are better than Black Friday plans

10GB for £6

It’s an exclusive hidden offerOrder it here

at sky.com
(opens in new window)

Despite launching some new SIM offers badged up as Black Friday, we actually think Sky’s existing exclusive offers are still the best value. Particularly this 10GB deal for just £6 a month:

Only cheapy cheap networks are beating that at the moment. It’s available until 17th December. Sky’s other exclusive 50GB for £11 offer is also good value for an O2-based network:

Our past experience tells us that Sky could launch a last minute flash offer, much closer to the Black Friday date. Possibly on their unlimited data plan or one of their bigger data deals.

But if you’re after a smaller amount, you should be safe to order already, without waiting.

SMARTY: one offer live, expect more mid-November

SMARTY Black Friday SIM

Order by 8th DecemberGet this deal

at smarty.co.uk
(opens in new window)

We now have the first of SMARTY’s Black Friday branded offers available until 8th December:

But we are expecting more. The bulk of SMARTY’s other offers are due to end on 16th November. We are then expecting more Black Friday SIMs to be launched the following day, or potentially a few days later.

They also usually hold back one big data offer for very close to actual Black Friday too. Expect something eye catching in the 100GB+ or unlimited data range. In the meantime, this is a very good value deal available now:

We don’t have any inside information on whether their deals will be an improvement on today’s exclusive plans we have. See under the dropdown:

spusu: we’re not expecting extra Black Friday offers

spusu 20GB for £6.90 deal

Great value all year roundGet this deal

at spusu.co.uk
(opens in new window)

We think you’re already safe to order from spusu. Their main website offers are set to end on 13th November. But spusu have indicated to us they won’t be offering anything out of the ordinary for Black Friday.

There’s pretty much a market-leading plan for every data usage amount on spusu, check under dropdown here for the full list.

If you’re stuck for which to take, the 20GB deal below is proving our most popular. It gives you twice what the average UK user gets through at a market leading price on the EE network:

Talkmobile will have the best value on Vodafone

Talkmobile Black Friday offer from last year

Better offers than last year’sSee our hidden deals

at simsherpa.com
(opens in new window)

In some ways, Talkmobile have a problem over Black Friday. Their deals are almost always in and around the best value on the market. So they don’t have a huge amount to play with for extra discounts.

At previous Black Fridays, Talkmobile have tended to have one or two hero offers on their main website, particularly on larger data amounts.

But then they’ve kept going with a range of exclusive SIM plans for comparison websites, which undercut their main deals. In previous years, these weren’t improvements but were already market leading.

Either way, Talkmobile will definitely be a top destination for cheap plans for any data requirement over the period. They always are. Just don’t be disheartened their offers are nothing new.

Tesco Mobile: two Clubcard Price offers so far

Save £72

Special prices for Clubcard holdersGet this offer

at tescomobile.com
(opens in new window)

Tesco are another network, who normally publish their Black Friday offers early. This year they did it in October! They’ve got a couple of cut-price offers for Clubcard holders:

You never really find Tesco competing massively on SIM only, so these are both beatable. From monitoring them over previous years though, we do expect to see at least one more strong offer.

We’d be willing to bet that will be unlimited data for £18 on a 24-month contract. This deal briefly appeared in lists that mobile networks sent us, but wasn’t on their website. So could be a sign of what’s to come.

But don’t expect that to come along until the last minute, potentially actually on Black Friday itself.

Vodafone’s best SIMs will be via Mobiles.co.uk and Carphone

A previous Black Friday offer on Vodafone

Previous deals focussed on big dataSee this year’s page

at vodafone.co.uk
(opens in new window)

There are two ways you can join Vodafone. One is direct via their website. The other is via resellers like Carphone Warehouse and Mobiles.co.uk. They’re not comparison websites, you buy Vodafone from them.

Over Black Friday, Vodafone themselves tend to only stick to a couple of very short offers: starting on the day itself and lasting to Cyber Monday. Think unlimited data for £20. Or 200GB for £18.

Where the real value lies is by signing up to Vodafone via Carphone or Mobiles.co.uk. Not only do they have better value plans in the first place, you’ll also get automatic cashback offers too.

The amounts tend to ramp up over Black Friday, so will definitely be worth checking in on. You get signed up to the full Vodafone experience at a fraction of the cost. It’s a good system.

VOXI: exclusives now, an extra offer on Black Friday

VOXI Black Friday offers banner

Expect slightly more value than last year’sSee current offers

at VOXI.co.uk
(opens in new window)

If previous years are anything to go by, we expect VOXI to have a range of decent-enough exclusive deals available throughout November for comparison websites like us (see current deals below).

But then for Black Friday itself and over the weekend into Cyber Monday, VOXI will usually release one big headline offer that’s available on the main part of their website.

This will typically be a big data deal, probably something like 100GB for £10. That would be genuine record value from VOXI all year, so it’s worth pouncing on. But you won’t have long.

For all the talk on the internet of VOXI being a low-cost network, it’s only really relative to Vodafone that they’re cheaper. Vs other comparison website led providers, they’re nowhere near on price alone.

As much data as you can get for £10: loads of choices

108GB for £9 and an iD Mobile SIM card

On Three’s superfast 5G networkGet this offer

at idmobile.co.uk
(opens in new window)

This iD Mobile exclusive deal using the Three network has been around a while. But their on-site Black Friday deals still can’t beat its value and flexibility, on just a 1-month contract with EU roaming:

This is an absolutely massive exclusive offer from Talkmobile on the Vodafone network. They’ve not launched any Black Friday specific deals yet. And we’re not sure they’ll be giving away more value than this:

If you’re not already an O2 customer, you can benefit from this new-customer exclusive they’ve sent us too. You’re getting main network benefits, with EU roaming, for virtual operator prices:

Or to get on the EE network, the most amount of data for a tenner is with Lyca Mobile. You can get up and running nearly instantly, if you choose an eSIM with this contract deal:

Ultra low-cost SIM only plans: plenty to choose from

Unlimited calls and texts for £2

No mid-contract price risesGet this deal

at sky.com
(opens in new window)

For just an outrageous low price, we really like Sky’s deal here on the O2 network. That £2 won’t go up during the course of your contract either, so it’s good for 12 months:

This exclusive Three offer hasn’t been published specifically for Black Friday. But where else are you going to get this much data on a main UK mobile network? It’s double what the average UK user needs:

We also think it’s hard to fault this exclusive plan on spusu, which uses the full speed EE network:

This is another brilliant low price main network offer on O2. It gives you full speeds, EU roaming and all normal O2 features. You will need to be a new customer to O2 though:

Meanwhile for a low cost deal on the full Vodafone network, it’s Talkmobile that win out at the moment:

We expect a reasonable amount of competition during the Black Friday period for unlimited data. Although there are already some excellent deals out there already, if you can’t be bothered waiting.

For out-and-out main network value, there’s this on the UK’s fastest 5G network from Three:

To get on the EE network, low-cost providers Lyca Mobile have a 6 months half price offer here on an already very well priced unlimited data SIM:

On the O2 network giffgaff have got this flat-priced £15 unlimited data SIM on sale until 4th December (it’s not one of their Always On plans either, which had capped speeds):

And last but not least on the Vodafone network, their sub-brand Talkmobile have this ultra cheap unlimited everything SIM with no long-term commitments:

Are there SIM only deals on Black Friday?

Yes. Most networks publish new deals around the Black Friday period. It’s typically the best time of year to join on a new SIM only deal. We go over which deals are genuine below.

Is Black Friday a good time to buy a SIM only deal?

Definitely. If the provider you want to join has some genuine Black Friday offers going, it’s normally the best time to join them.

Are these Black Friday SIM only deals genuine?

That depends on the network. Some offer the same deals that they’ve already offered throughout the year. Some rebrand already existing deals as “Black Friday” deals. We go over which ones are genuine below.

When will SIM only offers go live for Black Friday?

This is different per network. You sometimes see networks offering Black Friday SIM deals up to 3 weeks before the actual date, while some only bring them out on the date.m

Will SIM only be cheaper on Black Friday?

It depends on the network and plan. Most providers will pick two or three plans to discount or have at promotional prices. But don’t expect every single deal to get cheaper.

How long will these Black Friday deals last?

This depends on each network. Some keep their Black Friday deals up for longer than others. They’re usually kept up for about two weeks, while some networks keep their deals up for just a couple of days.
