VOXI Unlimited Social, Music & Video: are they any good?

It’s unlimited data for using certain things on your phone

With a conventional mobile plan, every time you do something that uses the internet on your phone, it comes out of your monthly data allowance. But VOXI were set up to offer something different:

Depending on the deal you pick, you’ll be able to use certain apps and services, without it using any data at all. It’s effectively a separate unlimited data allowance, reserved for particular usage.

So if you’ve ever put your phone down, because you were worried about data usage, you no longer have to. There’s Unlimited Social Media, Unlimited Music and Unlimited Video. Some plans get you all three.

We think they’re all really handy benefits. In this guide, we talk you through what’s covered with each, how much data you can save and what types of limitations there are.

All plans on VOXI come with Unlimited Social Media data

Every one of VOXI’s plans gets you Unlimited Social Media, even their cheapest.This lets you use WhatsApp, Snapchat, Facebook and these four other apps as much as you like, without eating up your data.

With video now embedded in lots of these apps, your data savings could very easily add up to 10GB+ for heavy users. Though just basic Facebook or X (Twitter) will only use a fraction of that.

Writing off the data means you could be able to get away with joining on a smaller plan that you’d need on another network. So in this sense, Unlimited Social Media does work slightly like a discount.

But it’s worth knowing voice and video calls on these apps do come out of your data allowance. And you’ll need some regular data left over for the Unlimited Social Media to work. But overall we rate it highly.

You’ll get Unlimited Music on VOXI’s mid-range deals

VOXI’s Unlimited Music works similarly to Unlimited Social Media except this time, it’s free music streaming data you get. You can listen to Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and these four other apps without using up data.

That could save an average user around 1GB+ a month. But streaming music on high quality can use around 140 MB per hour, so frequent listeners can expect to save around 5GB+ or even more each month with this benefit.

It also works if you use the service in an internet browser, if you don’t have the app due to storage space or want to tether to listen on another device. You can see which plans have Unlimited Music in the dropdown below:

But you do need some data left over for it to work. Unlimited Music also doesn’t apply to downloading music, only streaming it. Finally, the benefit doesn’t work if you’re roaming abroad. But, otherwise, it’s a fantastic benefit.

VOXI’s Unlimited Video can save more data than the others

VOXI’s last Unlimited benefit is Unlimited Video. This comes on their higher end plans and lets you stream YouTube, Amazon Prime, Netflix and these other video apps without it coming out of your allowance:

Video streaming is often one of the fastest ways to use data, so getting it zero-rated can save you a huge amount. High definition video will use around 750MB per hour, which works out to a lot if you stream often.

As a rule, every plan that comes with Unlimited Video also comes with Unlimited Music and Unlimited Social Media. So the data savings will really add up on these plans, though it is the pricier deals that include it.

There are a couple of drawbacks. Like with the other benefits, you need some data left over for it to work. And you can’t use Unlimited Video while abroad. But it’s still one of the best streaming benefits around.

A few providers offer unlimited streaming data benefits

There are a handful of other networks with free data streaming schemes, so how do they compare to VOXI?

Sky Mobile have the closest thing to VOXI’s scheme with their free data streaming on their TV apps. That lets you stream a wider variety of apps than on VOXI, but you do need a Sky TV subscription for most of them.

EE’s Entertainment Data Pass offers something similar, letting you stream lots of social media and video apps without using up your data. But it will cost extra, either as part of a premium plan or as an add-on.

We would say that VOXI and Sky Mobile’s free data streaming schemes are about equal as it depends on what you want to stream. EE are behind both of them as either way you have to pay extra to get it.
